Pikillaqta

A large Wari village, Pikillaqta was mysteriously abandoned in 1100 AD and soon after set ablaze. Despite ancient attempts at arson, the site is still wonderfully intact. You’ll wander the streets and plazas amongst temples, communal buildings, homes and storage structures – some of the buildings an impressive 4-storeys high!

    We were there March, 2024.

We were there March, 2024. If you visit only one site in Barcelona, this has to be it. Make sure you get your ticket ahead of time or you may find yourself waiting a long time in line. We recommend you get your tickets for the late afternoon when the sun rays are low and shine through the stained glass windows. Guaranteed--you will remember the sight for the rest of your life, just take time and soak it in. It gets crowded inside so take your time. Yes, go up one of the towers. And, go to the basement exhibit to get the story about the Sagrada's building(not complete). Also, go across the street to the parks on both sides to get full views of the breadth of the structure(each side different). A wonder.

One of the wonders of the world. Get tickets and prepare for a long visit. It is crowded, but well worth it. Assume you are surrounded by pickpockets. Wear a money belt and keep your hand on your phone.

Compared with the exquisite houses Gaudi created, I was not thrilled by this cathedral. The tour company kept us waiting and waiting as it changed the person to guide us. And he was not knowledgeable or informing.

    Definitely, book a tour guide.

Definitely, book a tour guide. There is so much symbolism in the Sagrada that you may miss it if you go alone. Church services on Sunday that anyone can attend without paying an entrance fee (obviously).

Make sure you make reservations in advance to see this incredible structure that is still under construction. It's a favorite of visitors and quite crowded at times. Gaudi was a remarkable man. Be sure to visit the museum with a good video.

The outside view is the attraction.

The outside view is the attraction. The inside was indeed picturesque in the Gaudí vision. I thought that the inside was very noisy and disrespectful for the nature of a "church". Lots of tour guides and people. Looking back I would say this is a great visit to see Gaudí's work. I wouldn't go inside to see a "holy" place and say a prayer. You can skip the inside.

Perfect location, very spacious apartment, and very quiet. It gets cleaned daily. It has all the main amenities one could possibly need. Nearby it's full of supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and fast food places, as Sagrada Familia is 300 meters away, with a convenient metro station, and children's playground.

The apartment was located very close to the Basilica del la Sagrada Familia (in fact there was a glimpse of it out our window). There was a supermarket across the road. The kitchen was well equipped and there was plenty of space in the apartment.

Great location pn a quiet street, 5 mins walk to Sagrada Familia. Close to Metro, restaurants, and shops. The mini fridge in the room was very useful. Clean room and bathroom. Helpful staff. Lockers for luggage storage at a reasonable price. Good choice of food for breakfast. Hotel has a lovely solarium (roof top terrace) with a view of the top of the Sagrada Familia.

Barcelona was the last leg of our Europe road trip so it was nice to be in a fully equipped apartment where we could lay back if needed. The location is superb, the Sagrada Familia is truly 5 minutes away, many shops, restaurants and cafes are nearby and if you don’t mind a little bit of walking, the gothic quarter is about 40 ish minutes away. We arrived a bit late at night but the info we got on how to get into the apartment was really clear and straightforward and we were also allowed to properly check in the next day.

The staff was very kind and attentive, they took good care of us. The rooms were exceptionally clean and beautifully furnished. The hotel is situated at an amazing spot, both the gothic quarter and Sagrada Familia just 10-20 minutes away on foot. The best place for a couple to have a base in the city close to everything. Breakfast was delicious and good variety. The breakfast service lady was smiley and really kind. I especially liked that you could enter the hotel anytime with your room key card and there was no closing time.

Independent apartment with kitchen, coffee machine, comfortable bed in a bedroom, nice big shower with hot water. Great, that we also had two pairs of key, what is not always the case. All in all it was a comfortable place close to Sagrada Familia.

Near metro, not in centre, but we like walking, so it was OK (Sagrada Familia 30 mins by foot). Not the best hotel, but for price and given the season, it was pretty good choice.

The hotel is good situated, near to restaurants and to the sea. The staff is really friendly. It also has a gym and a pool. Also the view out of the balcony is nice. Near to the hotel there are taxis. Also if you like to walk, you can walk in about 1h to the sagrada familia. If I go back to Barcelona I would take this hotel again.
