As we travel with child, we do expect more space, privacy and peaceful atmosphere, and this hotel can give us all that. We can enjoy the great scenic view from our balcony with a sip of wine while talking, it is the great part of our trip to remember. We stay here for 2 nights to enjoy the view and complete our activities, hike, bike, boat, and zipline that make us have full of joy. The hotel stay away from Flam station about 400m but it is good for us who love isolation and quiet place, the room is lovely and clean, the bed is comfy, the bunk bed is good, inside the room they have all needed facilities. The breakfast is good enough for all age yet not much as we expected.
Overlooking the Aurlandsfjord, this charming inn is 400 metres from Flåm Train Station. It offers a peaceful garden, a lounge and a breakfast room with fjord views.

The hosts were really great, friendly and helpful. The place was maintained very well and very close to the Fjord. The train station is just 5-8 minutes walk. Shops, supermarket and eateries are also near the train station.
Checking in was a breeze and as we already paid for the accommodation, our check-out was so easy. As we had to leave very early to catch the first train, we just took our belongings, left the key on the door and left - easy weasy!!

the location and the view were excellent . Lovely and peaceful atmosphere and if you tell yourself it's glamping you can rationalise the short walk to the spotlessly clean shared camp facilities. Very relaxing

We stayed in the red house which is a picturesque traditional Norwegian farmhouse surrounded by goats and cattle. It’s well appointed and clean with enough bathrooms and a decent kitchen. Beautiful surroundings. Easy self check in.

Beautiful location with good public transport links.
Beautiful location with good public transport links. Touristy obviously with the Flam railway at its core including rail museum and clothing outlets. As a base for car touring you face long tunnels going north (25km) and south (5km) so not one for tunnel phobes. Viking themed restaurant and pubs kitschy but food and beer ok.

Flåm is one of the most stunning places I have ever visited.
Flåm is one of the most stunning places I have ever visited. Just postcard perfect everywhere you look.
The first night we had dinner at the Ægir Bryggeripub (Gulinbusti and the Viking Planke). It was probably one of the best meals we have ever had and I would highly recommend booking a dinner at this place, you will not regret it. After dinner, we sat downstairs around the open fire on sheepskin rugs and had a few drinks. The place has a lovely authentic atmosphere and it's a really cosy pub.
We got up early the next morning and got coffee and pastries at the bakery. We also bought some chicken sandwiches for lunch as we were planning a hike.
We took the mountain train (Flamsbana) to Myrdal and then back to a lower stop (Berekvarm)and hiked back to Flåm from here, as there was too much snow at the top to hike from Myrdal.
The hike was wonderful and it was some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen.
We stopped at Drøymehytta (a small hut just off the trail) with a perfect view of Rjoandefossen, cascading over the side of the mountain. We decided this was a perfect spot for lunch and the chicken sandwich we had bought earlier that morning were delicious.
It was an honour to visit Flåm and I hope to go there again at some point in summer when we can rent bikes and cycle down from Myrdal back to Flåm.
If you have means of transport then the Stegastien viewpoint, and Aurlandsvangen, just down the Fjord from Flåm are also definitely worth a visit.

Flam was an amazing location.
Flam was an amazing location. Even though is is set up for mainly tourists to transfer through on their way from Oslo to Bergen , it was a quaint little area with amazing views and hospitality. We were there before the tourist season started , so no cruise ships yet so it felt like we have the place all to ourselves.

We visited in mid March and the views of the snow covered hills was magical. It was very quiet in town as there were no cruise ships in port.
The Flamsbana railway trip was excellent, amazingly scenic and well worth the trip from Australia.
We opted to take the bus to Voss rather than the fjord cruise to Gudvangen due to the weather. The VY bus (VY450) arrived on time and was clean and comfortable. The scenery was lovely - lots of snow and small towns we'd love to come back to.

Flåm was the highlight of Norway for my husband and our 20 and 17yo daughters. It was one of the most beautiful places they have ever seen with their own eyes. Now they just want to go back when it is less cold!
If you are doing the Bergensbana don't go through straight through. Visit Flåm!

Pristine, quiet and very pretty town.
Pristine, quiet and very pretty town. We travelled in January, it was very peaceful. The Fjord cruise was fabulous.
We travelled on the Flam train both ways as in winter the cruise between Flam and Bergen does not run. It’s a definite on my list to travel to. We will be back in summer to see the changes. The Flam Marina has great accommodation with amazing views of the Fjord. Very easy to walk around this little village. With a number of cafes/restaurants to eat at. We had dinner at the Flam Marina Restaurant twice as the food was very good and reasonably priced for Norway.
This is a pleasant hotel, situated close to the shore, with a front decks that provides lovely views of the fjord and the surrounding mountains. Our modern room was a reasonable size with plain but pleasant decor and very comfortable beds. Good curtains, too. Breakfast and dinner were included in the tariff. Dinner was a budget meal of 3 courses but was tasty and filling. (Drinks can be purchased separately.) We really appreciated the all day tea and coffee that was available in the foyer.
It left a bad taste in an otherwise nice family holiday in Norway.
This is a continuation from the "what you didnt like" below.
We received a message the next day saying that they could change our accomdation and help us find the best solution. The message came quite late. Nonetheless, when we called the number given, it went to voicemail again!. We gave up because we were about to check out in the next 12 hours and we did not want to waste our precious time on a family holiday.
We loved our stay at Steinsholen Home located just outside Flam. It was nice being within walking distance of town but enough away that it was relaxing. The home has four bedrooms and it was nice that our kids had their own rooms and space. There is a yard that our boys enjoyed playing soccer in with the ball and goal that were at the house. We loved having a comfortable place to come back to every night after busy days of activities. Can't wait to visit again!
A very comfortable cottage perched on a slope with an excellent view of the mountain ad waterfall from the balcony. It also over looks a flowing stream and the hamlet below. Very picturesque and we spend several hours on the balcony enjoying the view despite the cold. The lady owner was friendly and check-in & check-out was simple. The stay at this cottage was a highlight of our trip to Norway and also a regret - we only stayed one night.
There are just a small selection of accommodation options in Flåm, but most of them are expensive hotels. This hostel offers exceptional value for money in a fairly expensive country. It felt safe, tidy, and efficient.
I was here for just one night, but wish I had stayed slightly longer, as it's a really beautiful part of the world.
I'd reccomend it for anyone who needs a cost efficient place to stay for a short period of time.
Amazing location! right in the middle of Flam across from the boat terminal. Adorable bakery on the bottom floor.
Took us a bit to figure out that you pick up the key from the gift shop on the bottom floor. They helped us carry out luggage and showed us around. This was everything we needed to spend a night in FLAM and to do everything we wanted right from the center of the town
The friendly, helpful staff and facilities. I was given an upgrade on arrival. The breakfast was excellent and the room was very comfortable. Unfortunately I didn't get to have the full stay as I broke my leg slipping at Steganstein viewpoint and went to Voss hospital. The hotel staff were caring and packed my bags forwarding them promptly to the hospital.
The apartment was beautiful with incredible views. This stay was one of the highlights of our trip to Norway. The rainfall shower was perfect, especially with the views of the mountain in the background. Unfortunately it was too cold during our stay but we also loved the deck.
Nice, old and spectacular home with great location to do all things in Flåm area. Small, nice rooms (go for sea view room) and you share facilities with others. Not a 5 star hotel with breakfast and room service, but clean and a very good experience. The view is amazing.
Location in Flam valley. Easy access to hiking trail, short drive to Flambana and ferry. Charming and cozy upstairs bedroom. Exciting to use the ladder. (!) Functional kitchen. Comfortable living room. Well supplied kitchen. Lots of games and puzzles to engage us.
The owner is very hospitality. And cabin location is very good with nice view of the river and waterfall. Also it's near to historical church and close to Flam Railway Station. A wonderful place here, particularly free apples as many as you can eat.
Our room was a good size with comfortable beds. We were able to heat the room as it was chilly. The bathroom was spacious and well equipped. The hotel was very close to the train station, shops and restaurants.
Bed was so comfortable. The hotel is at the ferry stop so very easy to get off the ferry and checkin. Amazing view from the rooms. Very comfortable stay. Great breakfast!
Pleasant cabin in a great location, walking distance to all the activities in Flam. And with the chance to play with the little goats and the newborn lamb, it was special.
So great to find an affordable place in expensive Norway. Clean and obviously cared for by the owners. Good beds, clean cabin, basic cooking facilities.
