Friendly staff, good location,

The bathroom was the cleanest of all the hotels/hostels I stayed at in Japan, which was incredible given the amount of people staying in a room. I also liked that there was a luggage room/area before the beds so that you couldn't hear people rummaging through their stuff in the night. Overall, very pleasant and comfortable.

Very good hotel for the price. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Room was business hotel standard. Window could be opened. Located directly at the main shopping district. Public bath that was also accessible to the public at certain hours. As for the current construction work: the men’s bath was fully functional and open despite of one smallish hot pool.

Really enjoyed Matsuyama and was sad to leave.
Really enjoyed Matsuyama and was sad to leave. The castle (with its chair lift up to it) was great. There are lots of options for shopping, eating and drinking and the whole area around Dogo Onsen is very nice.

Where there isn’t the sea, the city is surrounded by mountains. With the hill that has the castle on top, it creates a nice atmosphere. The onsen town (Dogo onsen) is where I mostly stayed. It was fun to see people walking around in the street in their yukata.
Like in many Japanese cities, the tram is cute and all, but it’s very inefficient. Moreover, you can only pay with cash or their local IC card. You cannot use standard IC cards like Pasmo, Suica, etc.
We ate at our wonderful hotel (Kowakuen) so I cannot speak about the restaurants.

Beautiful city full of amazing places to visit.
Beautiful city full of amazing places to visit. The must visits are of course the mountain top castle named Matsuyama Castle and also so many others like the Okaido shopping street and the Bansuino old French-style house. There are also delicious foods to try such as the Taimeshi which was delicious as well as the amazingly delicious oranges (mikaan) around the city. There are so many shops selling mikaan and mikaan juice that if you like fruits, you will love this city.

Matsuyama, in the winter at least, is pretty boring.
Matsuyama, in the winter at least, is pretty boring. The big onsen that they go on about is a tourist trap so I would not waste your time. I was told Spring and Fall were the best times to go as the Summer is hot and humid. The people seem OK but don’t really want to be bothered by foreigners.

I visited Matsuyama as part of the 88 temple Henro pilgrimage and so took in several temples, shrines and the Matsuyama Castle which is the most impressive castle I have visited in Japan thus far. The hot springs are also excellent and plenty of nightlife options.
I loved absolutely everything about my stay! The room was so spacious (the most spacious hotel room I've ever stayed in in Japan) and the onsen was incredibly comfortable. Everything that I could possibly need was provided and the tram stop to get you to the station and/Dogo Onsen is just a short walk away, making this very conveniently located. Would absolutely stay there again if I could and would wholeheartedly recommend that others do too!
I loved the room they gave me (I had requested one on a high floor with an external view) as it had a view of Matsuyama castle; the room was really clean with a big comfortable bed and lots of counter space; the window in the room opened (unlike in many hotels in Japan) and this is really refreshing; the use of a bicycle was very convenient (although payable, depending on the usage time); check out at 11...
The hotel is right opposite Dogo Onsen with great views and interesting people watching. The room was spacious and comfortable and the fusion Japanese/French dinner and buffet breakfasts were excellent. The inside and outside onsens are lovely and our room also had a deep tub using the same water as Dogo Onsen. Staff try really hard to please.
The location of the Daiwa Roynet in Matsuyama was good. It was close to one of the main tram stops in town, the covered shopping arcade and the castle. The breakfast was good, quite comprehensive but predominantly in the Japanese style which suited us fine. The shower and bathroom facilities were excellent and the room was clean and tidy.
We stayed 2 nights over New Year's in this really nice and modern hotel. The facilities are excellent, with a nice view from our room as well. The staff was very helpful, although they did not speak a lot of English. The onsen is open throughout the night and the breakfast was really nice, with both Japanese and Western options.
A nice place to stay, you can see part of (Iyo-) Matsuyama Castle from some rooms.
You can get there by the tram, the hotel is very close to the tram stop.
The staff are nice and can speak English well.
The room is tidy and clean.
There are washing machines and dryers on the 2nd floor.
The location was walking distance to the Dougo Onsen area with its numerous shopping arcades and restaurants. The room was spacious and clean. The public baths were amazing. The breakfast spread (you can choose between Japanese or Western) was bountiful and delicious.
The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the room was spacious and comfortable. Enjoyed the welcome snack and hot green tea, as well as the Japanese breakfast. The public onsen was comfortable and not very crowded despite the size of the hotel.
Great location near the station and the stop for buses to the airport, the tourist port and the hot springs.
Very smart and clean hotel with friendly, helpful staff.
great location (bit far from station)
nice hotel great ambiance especialy the reception
room size good (double beds)
good shower
great view on castle of matsuyama
