Back in 2019 I stayed at 123 hotel Fukuyama. It was not available this year, so I got this instead. Honestly, I don't regret it. Everything was an upgrade. The room is big, the bed comfortable and the bathroom clean.
I honestly have nothing to gripe about. This booking was a bull's eye.

Clean and spacious room with traditional japanese bathroom. The free snacks and drinks as well breakfast brought to the room felt like bonus services since the price is more than reasonable. Great place to stay...

The view of the castle was amazing. Right next to the station and convenient to shops. We had fantastic okonomiyaki just on the other side of the train station. There is also a small bakery that is worth trying.

Its a great option in Tomonoura as it is in town rather than down the road, so everything is walkable. Shuttle service from Fukuyama station is very convenient. I primarily booked the room based on its location along my planned route but it ended up being one of my favorite hotels on my recent trip to Japan. The hotel is quite new and the rooms larger than a standard Japanese hotel typically offers. The bathroom was great but the best was when I looked out the window to a GREAT view of Fukuyama Castle. The onsen/spa was beautiful and really was beyond what I expected all around. Check-out was completed easily with the digital kiosk and many language options were available. Highly recommend!
Very convenient if you're going to see Fukuyama Castle or want to be close to the station to go via bus to Tomonoura for example. There is a mall nearby, a traditional 50s, 60s type shopping quarter too, and Fukuyama Station itself has a lot of stores and restaurants, so you can get anything you need. There is also a full grocery store on the B1 floor a couple of steps from the hotel, and an Animate as well for anyone interested in Japanese manga and gamer culture.
We had the Fukuyama Castle view from our window so we could see the Dino eggs change colors and the light show along the wall and over at the church. A nice seasonal touch. The room was large and the hot water shower/soaking tub was wonderful. There were plenty of outlets for all our chargers.
The hotel is right across the street from the JR Station which has a substantial food court and shopping options.

Unpleasant experience liaising with booking.com & Anchor hotel. Hotel alleged my rate charged is for guests living in Japan, not for foreigners.
Hotel asked to rebook my reservation and to refund my original reservation to Booking.com here. It took more than 1/2 a day for the hotel to finally accept the initial booking.
We liked everything! From the great online help signing up for the free shuttle bus from Fukuyama station, to the wonderful dinner and breakfast, this was a real treat! Quiet, comfortable room with a toilet. Private dining room for meals with very attentive staff. This hotel is a serious compliment to Tomonoura.
Very near Fukuyama Station so great for daytrips to nearby places like Hiroshima, Okayama, Onomichi, etc. Staff were friendly and welcoming (even though my Japanese is limited, we managed to communicate okay). Loved the room with its big windows and the privacy of the bunks.
Excellent value for money. Rooms are clean and there is an onsen in the hotel. Tons of amenities are provided including pillows. Also free unlimited coffee. Breakfast in the morning is a great selection. Location is perfect being right next to the JR station.
The hotel was a great value for money deal. It was much needed relax for us on the way from one town to another. The whirlpool as well as everything else in the room was neat and tidy, the staff was much helpful and polite. Would definitely recommend.
A stylish cozy hotel, seems it is renovated from a typical japanese apt. Everything is well-designed and special, unlike other hotel chain that everything is standard, this hotel is full of surprise. The bed/mattress is comfortable.
Great hotel, great location, highly underrated city, fabulous castle and historic museums, a very pleasant stay. Quiet, clean and comfortable, a great value!
