A little heaven on earth. The cottage is very cosy and confortable. The little river just outside in the garden make the surroundings so peaceful. It is the perfect place to watch the northern lights.
Located within the famous Golden Circle sightseeing trail, Héradsskólinn Historic Guesthouse overlooks Lake Laugarvatn, Hekla Volcano and the Eyjafjallajökull Glacier.

Amazing place with a spa really close ( Fontana) and the chance to do some trekking( even hiking) in the mountain in front to the hotel.

I loved this place. It was perfect location for different places to visit such as Geyster, Pingvilllar (National Park), etc. The accommodation was cosy and lovely. The owners were friendly, helpful and thoughtful; always informed me and my friends about the weather and issues with the hire car. We loved the scenery of the lake especially visiting the hot geothermal bath nearly every night. the last night before we returned to the city, we saw Northern Lights! that was the highlight of the short break. We would go back and stay there again. Loved it.

We chose it as a night stop between golden circle and Vik; village has thermal baths but we had already had thermal spa at blue lagoon, so we didn’t try these baths;
There are at least three places for dinner :)
The village is not worth for a longer stay or you can find a more attractive place ;)

Extremely quiet place.. not much to do.
Extremely quiet place.. not much to do. If you want a quiet place to recharge and do nothing, this is your place. We stayed 2 nights which is maybe too much for this little spot. Enjoyed onion ring burgers at Goodburger!

My guesthouse was comfortable and pleasant.
My guesthouse was comfortable and pleasant. I wished I had more time to enjoy the Fortuna. My hike at 10pm was delightful. I cannot recall ever smelling fresher air. The lupines, birches and pines were lovely. It was easy to get to all of the sites on the Golden Circle from there. Would gladly go back.
This cabin was our favorite out of the three places we stayed at during our time in Iceland. The owners were responsive and check in was a easy. The cabin was large and spacious with a fridge and microwave if you needed it plus a small sitting area. Well decorated and very clean. Getting to the property was easy and in a great location to everything in the area. 10 minutes to Fontana Baths
Best guesthouse in Iceland that we stayed in 7 days! Very spacious living and kitchen areas. Lots of cabinets. Nice wall to wall wood paneling including ceiling. Super clean. Close to Fontana spa and Efstidalur II, Kerid, bruarfoss and Gullfoss. Host provided milk for coffee and tea. There is even a bbq grill outdoor. Great privacy and best value for family traveling. Highly recommended!
Nice to have breakfast provided in the morning with a cute little shop to peruse. Bedrooms/bathrooms were overall comfortable and clean. Location was awesome coming from Reykjavik and spending the day at Thingvellir National Park. Cute little town with an awesome hot spring, Laugarvatn Fontana, and delicious dinner food at the hostel down the street.
Charming cottage in the middle of the meadows with grazing sheep and singing birds. The cottage looks small from the outside but in fact it's a full-fledged hotel room of a good size with a fully equipped kitchenette and a comfortable bathroom. The cottage is nicely furnished, very clean. Would like to stay again.
The rooms were very cosy and warm. Wifi worked well. Host Hanna is very accommodating and friendly. A decent grocery store is right nearby. The bathrooms were modern and shower worked well. Comfy beds. Breakfast was very good - freshly baked Icelandic bread and cold cuts, cereal etc.
Amazing family run hostel, very warm and welcoming owners who have recently purchased the property. They have a huge space for dining and a really comfortable common area. Very clean and the place has everything you could possible need with great views as well!
We liked the beautiful views, being near nature and close to places we wanted to visit in the Golden Circle. It was very windy some days and it was really amazing to experience the powerful Icelandic winds and see the sky clear for the stars at night!
I stayed one night on my journey around the Golden Circle. it’s walking distance to the Laugvartan Fontana hot springs and numerous restaurants. My room was clean, check in easy. And the place was affordable in a notoriously expensive country.
The location is very close to Laugarvatn Fontana Spa (3 mins walking distance).
The room is very spacious and all the amenities were available.
The mudroom to ensure the cleanliness of the apartment.
Self check-in was very swift.
Very nice farm hotel. Had a small cabin with a very nice view. Heated floor kept us warm. The restaurant had good food and home made ice-cream (yummy!). While eating you are able to look into the barn and watch the farm's cows.
Beautiful place, wonderful family farm. Fantastic food with in house made ice cream and skyr!! Gorgeous views from our room! Fascinating place, if I were going to pick one place to revisit in Iceland this is it, hands down.
there is no kitchen but a nice bonus was to have kettle and microwave oven inside the room, so we could heat some meals. Also Fontana is very close and hotel offers a sale for it. Room was very comfy and clean.
Absolutely beautiful guesthouse next to Fontana baths. Our room was a little bit tiny but well decorated, the bathrooms were big and clean.
Dinner and breakfast were very tasty and well priced.
Beautiful cottage with stunning view from the terrace. Also the surrounding area is worth it, especially Laugarvatn Fontana and Þingvellir. It would be nice to come back someday.
Best stay in Iceland- the cottage is.m clean , neat and tidy. The mattresses are really good quality( memory foam) , kitchen has everything you needed - salt /pepper/ oil/ etc
The hotel is well kept and the location next.to the lake and the Fontana spa are great. 10% discount if you say you re from the guesthouse. The breakfast was exceptional.
Nice en-suite room with a comfy bed and amazing view.
Kettle instant coffee and tee. They even left an Icelandic welcome chocolate that was greatly appreciated!
